Herbert Eugene Harley

Herbert Eugene Harley, lovingly known to all as “Bub,” passed away peacefully on October 1st 2025, at the age of 86 in Lutz Florida. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Bub will be remembered most for his humor, warmth, and deep love for those around him.

A native of Tampa, Florida, Bub graduated from H.B. Plant High School in the Class of 1957 and went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Auburn University in 1961. His early career began in the construction, material, and supply industry, where he worked with notable companies such as J. Rooney Company, Hardaway Construction, Cone Brothers and Cemex.

Bub's life was full of adventure, laughter, and love. He and his beloved wife, Serena Harley, spent 19 wonderful years in the mountains of Burnsville, North Carolina, living in the home they designed and built together—a true reflection of their partnership and shared vision. In more recent years, they moved to Eastlake Woodlands in Oldsmar, Florida, to be closer to family.

Bub’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his wife Serena; daughter Jane Sultenfuss and son-in-law (like a son) Paul Sultenfuss; son Michael Harley and daughter-in-law Karen Harley; and his treasured grandchildren Sydney Lee Sultenfuss, Mackenzie Panzarino and Garrett Hayward.

He had a passion for golf and especially loved teeing off with Serena and his neighbor and friend Rick. But above all, Bub cherished making people laugh. His quick wit, bright spirit, and infectious laughter brought joy to everyone he met, and he wanted nothing more than to be remembered for the smiles he inspired.

Bub leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
