Hisaias Guzman Gonzales, born October 30, 1946, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to the parents of Mauricio Gonzales and Petra Guzman, entered heaven on August 26, 2016. He was the sixth child of twelve children. In 1965 he served our country and enlisted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War era. He was honorably discharged from active duty in 1968 and served an additional four years in the Army Reserves. In July 1967, he joined hands with Polly Anna Jaco in holy matrimony. They celebrated 49 years of marriage and had three children.
Hisaias and Polly lived in various states, including Texas, Wisconsin, and Kentucky, before making California their home. During his journey he helped others by serving as a counselor and a mentor for a rehabilitation center. In 1983, he started his career as a Bus Operator for the Metropolitan Transit District (MTA), formerly known as Rapid Transit District (RTD), and retired in 2006. As a loyal patriot to our country he continued to support the military by being a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Polly Gonzales and three children, Don Gonzales, Ann Marie Gonzales, and Stacie Diaz; son-in-law Ruben Diaz and granddaughter, Marissa Diaz. Hisaias has four living siblings, Benito Gonzales, Esther Davis, Rachel Gonzales, and Rosalinda Trevino, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. During his 69 years of life his primary beliefs included, to serve God, Family, and Country. He was also known for his ability to influence change as he questioned and challenged contemporary practices to promote fairness.
Interment with military honors will take place on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at the Riverside National Cemetery, located at 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92518 at 10:15 a.m.
