Ione Jaxine Sparing age 88, died at home on March 25th, 2017, two days after her husband Lloyd passed away.
Ione was born September 30, 1928 in Chinook, Montana to the late John and Ida Weiss. She and her mother later moved to Renton, Washington where she graduated from Renton HS in 1946. They moved back to Montana where she met Lloyd and they were married in 1949. The couple moved to Renton in 1952.
Ione was preceded in death by Lloyd, daughter Carol Eickhoff, and sister Marcella Paulson. She is survived by daughters Paula Mays, Joanie Sheppard, Carla, and son Peter. She is also survived by five grandchildren Tracy, Trisha, Jacob, Jocelyn and Andreya, as well as three great-grandchildren Cole, Hunter and Nathan.
Ione was a busy housewife raising her five children while also providing day care for a number of children. She also worked in a number of office jobs, including at Fred Meyers and Sears. She loved sewing, reading, crossword puzzles and doing crafts of many kinds. She was a devout churchgoer and taught Sunday school classes. As a volunteer coordinator for Cambodian refugees she helped them with their English lessons, leading to an enduring friendship with a number of the families.
