Jackie N Gary

Jackie Nell Gary, 84, of Lake Kiowa, Texas, passed away on September 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.  Jackie was born on March 21, 1942, in Denton, Texas, to Ruby Nell Hudgins and Jack Roper Hudgins. She built a long career with GTE before retiring in 1999, giving her more time to enjoy her family, friends, community, and the many things she loved.

Jackie shared 47 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Jim Gary. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, friendship, and countless special memories.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Gary; four daughters, Kim Curtis (Michael), Shelly Markham (Randy) of Denton, Anette Gabbard (Keith) of Krum, and Kim Gary of Fort Worth; six grandchildren, James Sager, Josh Gabbard, Katie Armstrong, Kymber Jones, Chris Curtis and Michael Porter; three great-grandchildren, JJ, Rylee and Paige Sager and her beloved dog, Charlie.

Jackie is also survived by her siblings, Judy Gravely of Pilot Point, Danny Hudgins (Jackie) of Hurst, and Mike Hudgins (Barbara) of Valley View; her longtime best friend, Lucy Barbettini; and her dear neighbor and friend, Glenda Boroski. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Kathy Shipley.

In her younger years, Jackie loved traveling, sunbathing, and attending Dallas Cowboys games. After making her home in Lake Kiowa, she became an active part of the community and enjoyed the many friendships she made there. She was involved with) the Dining Divas, the Kiowa Women’s Club, TEEA with Elouise and especially treasured her time at craft shows. Jackie had a creative spirit and a love of learning. She enjoyed making jewelry and researching genealogy, discovering and preserving the stories of generations that came before her. More recently, she found a new creative passion in diamond art.

Jackie’s legacy will continue not only through her family and the countless memories they shared, but also through the beautiful jewelry she lovingly created for so many people over the years. Each piece will remain a special reminder of her creativity, generosity, and the love she put into everything she made. She will be deeply missed, but the love she gave and the memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be Sunday, September 27th at 2pm at the Lake Kiowa Lodge. If you have a piece of jewelry Jackie made for you, we would love for you to wear it to her Celebration of Life.
