Jacqueline Marie Walker

Jacqueline Simmons-Walker, 90, passed away in San Diego, California on June 4, 2017.

Ms. Jackie was an only child and beloved by all who knew her. She accomplished so much in her lifetime. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan and went on to Wayne State University where she earned her Juris Doctorate degree. After passing the California bar exam in 1969, Ms. Jackie was admitted by the state of California as an attorney. She began her work with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). Shortly after working for the ACLU Ms. Jackie practiced criminal law.

It was not long before Ms. Jackie was noticed for her hard work, dedication to her clients, and reverence for the law. Shortly after working in criminal law, she was appointed as a judge for the California Unemployment Appeals Board. She worked for the Unemployment Appeals Board until she retired in June 2005.

When she was not busy tending to legal matters, she often traveled with her close friend Blanche Baker. Ms. Jackie was also an avid Bridge player and won a healthy share of tournaments. She was always loyal to her family and friends and was a trusted confidant to many. She cared for those who had little means to care for themselves. The family she leaves behind will miss her deeply.

Per her request, Ms. Jackie will not have a funeral, she preferred people celebrate her life and live their lives accordingly.
