James "Jim" Edmond Chambers

James "Jim" Edmond Chambers, 74, of Auburn, Washington, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 23rd at Saint Francis Hospital in Federal Way, Washington. Born on May 7, 1943 in Tacoma, Washington to Earl and Mary Chambers, he lived most of his life in Federal Way, Tacoma, and Auburn.

Jim received his bachelor's degree in biology at the University of Washington prior to being commissioned in the United States Army. Jim served in the Medical Service Corps from 1966-68 in Vietnam. He was promoted to First Lieutenant and honorably discharged at the end of his service commitment. In addition to other various military accommodations, he was awarded the Bronze Star medal.

Jim was a boisterous, sociable man who persistently pursued a relationship with Christ. He worked in transportation management for most of his life. In his spare time he enjoyed genealogy, history, numismatics, firearms, wood carving, and eating a good piece of chocolate cake with friends. During his younger years he also enjoyed swimming, racquetball, and camping. Jim was a member of the American Legion (Auburn), Masons (Evergreen State Lodge, University Place), Federal Way Historical Society, and the National Rifle Association.

Jim is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ella, brothers Lincoln (wife Skip) and Laird (wife Merinda), daughter Christine (husband Jeremy), grandson Daniel, and many other extended family and friends. Jim was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend to all.
