James Gerard Day

James Gerard Day passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 72 years old.

Born and raised in Ohio, Jimmo was the 10th of 14 children in the loving and lively Day family. Caring brother of Joseph (dec.), John (dec.) (Mary), Thomas (dec.), Patrick (Patricia), Mary (Chuck) Fink, Madeline, William (Maria), Ann McKee (Bill dec.), Joan Groves (Doug), Brian (Sue), Rose (dec.), Barbara Baran (Don), and Maureen Nawalaniec (Steve). Uncle, great-uncle, and friend to many.

Growing up in a full house taught him the value of hard work, loyalty, and laughter; qualities he carried with him throughout his life. The strong bonds he shared with his siblings, and the foundation of faith and family shaped the man he was.

Jim was a proud Marine, a skilled general contractor, a dedicated athlete and coach, and above all, a deeply loving husband and father. He was a gifted storyteller, often holding court with a tale that had everyone leaning in, often breaking it up with his own infectious laughter. His strength, integrity, and quick wit touched everyone who had the honor of knowing him.

A lifelong and devoted Catholic, Jim’s faith was a guiding force in his life. From his early days as an altar boy to his long-standing role as an usher, he served his church community with unwavering commitment and humility.

Jim will be remembered for his quiet strength, his endless generosity, and the way he made everyone feel like family. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and service that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Denise, and his two daughters, Brenda (Todd Ramey) and Kathleen, who were the light of his life. He also leaves behind three cherished grandfur babies who brought him endless joy (and constant barking).

Jim is now reunited in heaven with his loving parents, Ma and Goober, and his dear siblings Joe, John, Tom, and Rose Day.

A funeral to celebrate his legacy will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery on Friday, August 29th, 2025 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Disabled American Veteran’s at www.dav.org
