Beloved father James (Jim) Francis Hackett passed away peacefully on December 24, 2017, at Franke Tobey Jones Healthcare Center in Tacoma, Wash.

Born on January 7, 1930, in Arlington, Mass., to James Paul and Rosanna (O'Rourke) Hackett, Jim was the eldest of four.

Jim graduated from Watertown High School in 1947 and enlisted in the Marine Corps where he attained the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. While serving as an embassy guard in Saigon, Vietnam, he met Foreign Service employee Patsy Ruth Cowell. They were married in Hong Kong on August 2, 1960. They returned to the States. Within two years, the family grew to four with the arrival of two daughters, Lisa in 1962 and Leslie in 1963.

After 20 years with the Marine Corps, Jim retired and moved his family from the east coast to Washington State. He worked for Washington State Surplus Property and Supply from 1969 to 1984, retiring as a Surplus Commodities Supervisor.

During his retirement years, Jim enjoyed traveling with Pat, his wife of 47 years, and woodworking. He also volunteered at the Federal Way Food Bank for a number of years. Pat died in 2007. In 2010, he married Karen (Hickman) Partridge.

Jim lived in the Browns Point area of Tacoma for over 30 years, after raising his two daughters in the Kent/Federal Way area. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. His smile and charm warmed the hearts of friends and family alike.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife Pat; and brothers Bernard and Robert. He is survived by his wife Karen of Tacoma, Wash.; sister, Rosann Schwalls of McKinney, Texas; his daughters Lisa (Donn) Morse of Moscow, Idaho, and Leslie (Andreas) Bosch of Schlierbach, Germany; his grandchildren Kyle (Charissa) Morse of Vancouver, Wash., Heather Morse and Trevor Morse, of Moscow, Idaho; and Joshua Bosch and Bryan Bosch of Schlierbach, Germany.
