James Richard Haney

James Richard Haney, 76, passed away on May 11, 2026, in Bremerton, Washington. Born on July 25, 1949, James spent his entire life in the Bremerton area, leaving behind a legacy of community involvement and a love for the outdoors. 

A proud graduate of West Bremerton High School's class of 1967, James continued his education at Olympic Junior College before earning a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the Washington State University in 1971. Over the years, he worded in various retail and sales positions, showcasing his dedication and adaptability. 

James had a passion for photography and shared his expertise as a photography judge at the Kitsap County Fair for several years. In his youth, he embraced hiking and mountaineering, exploring the beauty of the Pacific Northwest with enthusiasm and skill. 

He is survived by his brothers Michael, Richard and Gregory; his sister Patricia Wehnert; and eight nieces and nephews who were part of his extended family. James was predeceased by his parents, Richard Jess Haney and Mary Cecilia Finlay, as well as his uncle Wallace Finlay. 

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date to honor James' life. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
