James (Jim) R. Featherston

James Ray Featherston passed away on January 26, 2024 at the age of 89. Jim was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on September 1, 1934, and spent his early years in Arkansas and Utah, then moved to Ventura County.  He graduated from Oxnard High School, class of ’52.  As a young man, he was drafted and served in the Army.

Jim lived in Camarillo nearly all of his adult life where he met his wife, Ann, and they raised their four children.  He was known as “the man in the post office”, as he worked at the Camarillo Post Office for 30 years.

Jim was competitive in sports. He played baseball and football in high school, then Camarillo Kings fastpitch softball, and later, senior softball into his 70’s.  He shared his softball skills with his daughters, coaching their PVBA softball teams from elementary through high school.

He (aka “Fuzz”) enjoyed bowling in both men’s and mixed leagues at the Camarillo Bowl.  Bridge was his favorite card game, and he and Ann played in the St. Mary Magdalen and Padre Serra Couple’s Bridge Club for 45 years, where they developed life-long friendships.  Jim was an avid Dodger fan and never missed a game on T.V.

Jim is survived by Ann, his wife of 58 years; his children, Margaret Mike (Jerry), Mary Wolfrey (Jeff), Linda Fiacco (Charlie) and Michael Featherston, and grandchildren Samantha, Garrett, and Caley Mike; Naomi, Jacob, Nicholas, and Jonathan Wolfrey; Tommy (Antoinette), Jackie, and Katie Fiacco; and Quinn Featherston.
