James Edward Osborn

James Edward Osborn born on 12/19/51, passed away on 4/12/24, with the one whom he loved and love him, at home in San Diego. James grew up in Gillespie, Illinois. His first degree was in Theater Arts, and he completed his education with a Master’s in Post Modern Literature from Easter Illinois University. After living briefly in Europe and many adventures across the USA James headed west to San Fransico in the 1980’s. James’ new career paths led him to the UC medical system. James moved to San Diego and retired, as the Residency Coordinator for the OB/GYN Residency Program at UCSD, after 25 years. James loved to spend his time reading, being silly and having a good laugh, sharing a delicious meal and good wine with friends. He also enjoyed video games, the theater, classic movies, and meditation. James was kind, thoughtful, erudite, creative, funny, silly, serious, warm, loving, loyal, dedicated, honest, a wonderful listener, and a beautiful soul. He chose to speak softly to be heard.

James is preceded in death by his mother: Lorraine, father: Edward, grandmother: Ester, and brother: Richard. He is survived by his brother: Larry (Nikolas), sister-in-law: Jeri, and long-time companion/partner: John Bartley.

James did not like funerals. He loved and celebrated the ephemeral pleasures of the moment. A perfect bite of food. A sip of wine. A beautiful view. A quiet moment together. A kiss.

Honor and remember James Edward Osborn, by: being kind; making a donation to a cause you believe in; sharing a meal and wine with friends and loved ones; or just enjoy being and doing nothing at all.

“Il dolce far niente”

If you are depressed, you are living in the past.

If you are anxious, you are living in the future.

If you are at peace, you are living in the present.
