James Rolland McPherson was known as many things to many people. He was a loved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, a special brother and friend to many. To family and friends who knew him best, Jim will be remembered as a very exceptional person. Jim was born on June 13, 1937 at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, NE. He was the son of Mildred Bobzin and Rolland (Mac) Ambrose McPheson. Jim grew up in Omaha, NE. Jim was raised with two brothers, younger twin brothers Michael (Mike) and Patrick (Pat). Jim had a happy high school experience and had many friends. He played varsity football at Technical High in Omaha, and graduated in 1956. Among his great joys were his automobiles and, in particular, his 1955 Plymouth Belvedere which he bought new and proceeded to customize at his parents' dismay. The car appeared in local auto shows and was featured in Hot Rod magazine. Jim enjoyed what he did for a living. Jim managed his parents' motel, The Triangle Motel, in North Platte, NE for 7 years. He worked in book/learning industry sales for 7 years rising to a major executive position. Lastly, he owned and managed his own swimming pool business, Crystal Blue Pools, for 20 years. Jim, throughout his career worked hard and used his sales abilities to great success. Jim worked hard to be a good husband to his wife Gloria and father to his children. He was blessed with sons Jimmy, Timmy, Michael, Gary and Guy and daughters Lori and Jill. Another blessing for Jim were his nine grandchildren, Michael, Tyler, Kayla, Dustin, Shawn, Timothy, Lindsey, Timothy, Anna Lee. Jim loved deep sea fishing. His favorite vacations were fishing trips to Mexico, to areas like Punta Colorado, Loretto and Cabo San Lucas where he and his wife Gloria eventually lived and owned a fishing boat. He enyoyed many fishing trips with his wife, children, brother and friends. His family loved to visit him and Gloria in Cabo. While residing in North Platte, NE, Jim was elected and served as Justice of the Peace in Hinman Precinct in Lincoln County. Jim was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. One of his favorites was Holiday, a poodle, and Toddles, a terrier. They were best friends for Holiday for 15 years and Toddles for 10. Jim was a good man and kind person. He will always be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Jim leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember James Rolland McPherson.
