Jane Elizabeth Mekis

Jane Elizabeth Mekis, 62, went into the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ October 26, 2025 at her home. Jane graduated Prosser High School in 1982. She spent her early adult life on the East coast where she met her husband, Michael Mekis. They made their home in Virginia until they moved back to Prosser in 2003.

Jane loved the outdoors and was ready to fish at any fishing hole she could find. She loved to camp, play cards, and spend time with her family.

Jane is survived by her husband of 22 years, Mike, brothers, Rick (Virginia), Mick, and Jarrod; sisters Debbie Hill, Peg (Steve) Hilton, Teresa (Poncho) Canchola; sister-in-law Maryann Hildebrant, best friend Millie Wilcox, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her step-children Michelle (John) Dubaich, Kimmie (Patrick) Dempsey, and Peter Mekis.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents, John and Barbara Hildebrant, brothers Thomas and John Hildebrant, sister Valerie Hildebrant, and nephew Nathan Hildebrant.

A celebration of Jane’s life will be held in the Spring.
