Janet Lee Franklin

Janet Franklin, of Texas City, was called home into the loving arms of Jesus, on March 18th, 2024. She was born in Houston, TX, on January 16, 1963, to Everett Franklin and Betty (Franklin) Zetka. She is the 6th of 7 children, in a large, blended family. She always did her best to spend time with her family and friends. She faithfully attended Sagemont Church and enjoyed learning God’s word through their interpreter.  Known as the jokester, she will always be remembered for her quirky humor and her helpful heart. Despite being plagued by health issues since early childhood, including heart issues and deafness, she tried to never let her physical deficiencies get her down. She worked many years as a certified nurse’s assistant where she received many accolades, including Nurse’s Assistant of the year, which sent her to Atlanta, Georgia where she was the guest of honor at a nationwide banquet.

She is proceeded in death by her mother, Betty Zetka, biological father, Everett Franklin, father, James Zetka, and oldest sister, Linda Franklin Vuorela.

She is survived by sisters, Sharon Oldham, Dianna Lee (Jeff), and Becky Mason (David). Also, her brothers Jim Zetka and Bill Zetka. She has many nieces and nephews, Ruth Ann Sandino (Joel), Melissa Oldham, Robert Oldham, Nic Lee (Jami), Jon Lee (Ashley), Kyle Eberlan (Torie), Lauren Atkinson (Evan), Kaitlan Cox (Curtis), Logan Quinn (Marcus), Rhee Mason (Joe Ray), Travis Zetka, and Kelly Zetka. She also has numerous great nieces and nephews.

She will be missed by her family, her special church friends, and her deaf chat group, who she dearly loved.

As per Janet’s wishes, there will be a private family ceremony. We would like to thank all the staff at UTMB Victory Lakes and Living Hope Home Health/Hospice for the care in her final days.
