Obituary

Jason David Finstad passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at his home in Palmhurst, Texas, on October 8, 2026, at the age of 42. He passed away due to natural causes.

Jason was born on June 25, 1984, at St. Luke's Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota, to David and Tammy Finstad. He spent his early years in Harwood, North Dakota, before his family relocated to Elk River, Minnesota. Jason grew up in Elk River and graduated from Elk River High School.

Following high school, Jason worked alongside his father, David, as an electrical apprentice, eventually earning his license as a skilled electrician. In 2008, Jason moved to Killeen, Texas, to support his sister Jennifer and brother-in-law Zack Wilkerson after Zack returned from deployment in the Iraq War. When his parents moved to Pflugerville, Texas, in 2009, Jason moved with them to stay close to family. The family later moved to Rockport, Texas, in 2012, where Jason purchased his very first home in 2017. Over the years, Jason continued working in the electrical trade and later served his local community through public service with the county. In 2024, he moved to Palmhurst, Texas with his parents and his grandparents, James and Syliva Olson.

On September 4, 2017, Jason experienced the proudest moment of his life when he became a father to his beloved daughter, Everley. He was the best father and enjoyed every moment he had with her.

As the baby of the family, raised alongside three older sisters, Jason held a special place in the hearts of those around him. He had the biggest heart—he loved hard and loved deeply. Though life did not always come easy for Jason, he faced every challenge with perseverance, taking everything in stride. He possessed a unique personality that balanced a quiet, contemplative nature with a vibrant spirit that made him the life of any gathering.

Jason had a passion for the outdoors and spent time hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. A curious learner from a young age, he achieved the rank of black belt in Karate, and throughout his life, he absolutely excelled at tinkering. Jason is also fondly remembered for the deep bond he shared with his beloved soul puppy, King, with whom he is now reunited.

Jason is survived by his cherished daughter, Everley; Milo his precious dog, his devoted parents, David and Tammy Finstad; his grandparents, Darlene Finstad, James Olson, and Renoelle Olson; his sisters, Christine, Jennifer (Zachary) Wilkerson, and Melissa (Anthony) Pizzalato; his nieces and nephews, Jade, Dalton, Marlie, Chloe, Skyler, Liam, Carmine, and Mia; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Finstad; his grandmother, Sylvia Olson; and his cousin, Amy Finstad.

In lieu of a celebration of life, the family asks that you keep Jason and the rest of his family in your thoughts and prayers. We appreciate everyone that has reached out.
