Jean C Ruiz

Jean Ruiz, 81, born in Escondido, California, on April 9, 1941, entered into eternal peace on August 17, 2022.  She was surrounded by her siblings and family.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband of more than 40 years, Roberto and her parents, Fermin and Carmen Espinosa.

She will be lovingly remembered by her five siblings and their spouses: Fermin and Mary Espinosa, Mary and Don Berg, Betty and Dick Nagtalon, Mark and Sue Espinosa, and Reuben and Rosa Espinosa.  Jean is also survived by her 19 nieces and nephews, 29 great nieces and great nephews, and 3 great, great nephews.

Jean was born into a strong, Catholic faith-based family.  She was in the first graduating class of St. Mary’s Elementary School.  She went on to graduate from the Academy of the Little Flower at San Luis Rey Mission in 1959.

After graduating, she began working to help her parents financially with the needs of her five siblings.  She worked in the golf industry for 20 years as a supervisor before retiring.

Jean was an excellent and meticulously self-taught seamstress.  One of her many talents and joys was sewing prom, wedding and bridesmaid dresses for her family and friends.

Jean was a very committed, practicing Catholic and was always involved in her parish community of St. Mary’s Church.  She eventually became their Sacristan and Wedding Coordinator among other involvements, especially being a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and serving as a Eucharistic Minister.

Jean was a very warm, caring, and loving person who, by her example and in her own quiet and special way helped so many to see the good that comes in working together.

Her later years were spent in caring for her husband, Roberto, and continuing to be as involved as possible in her parish community.  She will be missed by so many people she inadvertently touched.

The family would like to thank her close friends, her neighbors, and the loving parish community of St. Mary’s Church for their outpouring of comfort and support.

Jean’s celebration of life will be held at St. Mary’s Church on October 6, 2022, at 9:30am, with her burial following at 1pm, at the Miramar National Cemetery.

Jean’s family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be sent to:
