Jeanne Elizabeth Quam, 87, of Snohomish Washington, died peacefully Saturday, January 18, at the Willette Cove Family Care Home in Snohomish.
Jeanne was born December 13, 1926 in Underwood Minnesota to Alfred and Sophia (Ledding) Gronner, the youngest of their 7 children who have all passed away before her.
She graduated from Underwood High School in 1944, and then attended Moorhead Teacher’s college in Moorhead Minnesota where she received her teaching certificate. She taught grammar school for a number of years in a rural school in Ottertail County after WWII ended.
On June 29th 1946, she Married Norris Quam who she met while attending high school in Underwood. They lived in Underwood, and then Fergus Falls for a time where two of their children, Noreen and Kenneth were born, and then later moved to Moorhead where their son Gary was born.
Norris and Jeanne later moved to Starbuck Minnesota where they owned and operated the Coast to Coast hardware store for several years, and then moved to Luverne Minnesota where they resided for 27 years. Jeanne worked at the Coast to Coast and at the State Farm insurance agency for several years in Luverne. In 1998 they moved to Snohomish Washington to be close to their children.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Norris who died in 2003, her daughter Noreen Jensen who died in 2001, Brothers Alvin Gronner (Alice) and Herb Gronner (Leila), her Sisters Evelyn Conger (Merwin), Doris Severson (Alfred), Verna Johnson (Halbert), and Merelle Engebretson (Elder). She is survived by her two sons, Ken Quam and Gary Quam, both of Snohomish Washington, her Granddaughter Cassandra Lee of Portland Oregon, and Grandson Shawn Jensen of Vancouver Washington, Great Grandson Derek Foley of Portland, and numerous nieces and nephews in Minnesota, Michigan, Washington, and California.
