In Loving Memory of Jerry Afton Roquet
Jerry Roquet, 96, of Leavenworth WA, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born on December 20, 1929, in Santa Monica, CA, Jerry grew up in Morrill Nebraska and attended K-12 in the same 3 story schoolhouse where his mother taught 1st grade. He lived a portion of his life in the town railroad depot where his father managed all railroad activities for the town. Jerry was known for his smile, laughter and accurate weather reporting, which will be greatly missed by all, but he is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Coffee each morning will still be a mandatory requirement.
Jerry was most proud of his Three Palm Eagle Scout Award (1946-48), Service in the U.S. Air Force and his countless hours of volunteering as a ski chaperone, high school Sunday school teacher, Christian school event chaperone, driver for seniors, Meals on Wheels, Mobile Missionary Assistance Program and many other charities that were dear to his heart. He loved to fly, ski, fish, and collect coins and stamps. He was also grateful for his dedicated Friday morning Big Y Café men’s prayer breakfast group. That was a highlight of his week for nearly 40 years.
Jerry had a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Colorado and worked for 30 years for the Boeing Company. He served as a B-47 pilot in the US Air Force, and continued in the reserves, (Lt. Colonel) for over 29 years. He worked hard for 30 years and was retired for 41 years!
Jerry is survived by his wife of 69 years, Frances; his children, Leslie (Bob) Gavinsky and Kyle (Sandy) Roquet; six grandchildren (Galen, Benjamin, Stephanie, Michelle, Payton and Aubrey) and seven great grandchildren (Lawrence, Yvette, Claire, Annika, Liv, Dean and Colette). He is preceded in death by his brother Donald, sister Jeanne, daughter Carla, grandson Nolan and great grandson Colin.
A celebration of life will be held on May 28, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Mid-Valley Baptist church in Dryden, WA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seattle Union Gospel Mission, or your local Church Fellowship.
