John A. Gergely (85) of Casa Grande, AZ went to be with the Lord on Aug 2, 2023. He was surrounded by family at home.
John was born June 15, 1938 in Trinidad, CO. John married Helen Barenberg on October 27, 1962. He is survived by his wife Helen Gergely, children, Karen (Gary) Martinez, Earl (Pat) Gergely, Scott Gergely, Mark (Angela) Gergely, and Debbie (Steve) Roberts, 9 granddaughters and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Dorothy DeVey. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Dorothy Gergely, brothers, Frank and James and sister, Virginia. John was a devoted husband, a loving father and even more caring grandparent who adored his 9 granddaughters and great-grandchildren.
John was talented in many aspects of life and never passed up an opportunity to learn. John retired from Kodak after 27 years. He enjoyed volunteering with several organizations and teaching others. He was very active with the Catholic church and the Knights of Columbus for 60 years. He and Helen traveled greatly during their retired years making many new and dear friends.
John was a Veteran serving in the US military 1955-1961 which included service in the Army National Guard, US Navy and the Naval Reserve. His loyalty and love was always with the US Navy.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, August 29th at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Casa Grande, AZ beginning at 10 a.m. with the Rosary then Mass at 10:30 a.m.
Another Memorial service will be held Thursday, September 21st at St. John's Catholic Church in Loveland, CO beginning at 10 a.m. with the Rosary followed by the Mass at 11 a.m. and reception to follow.
John will be laid to rest at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO Friday, September 22nd at 2:30 p.m.
