John Joseph Hoffman, 70, of Laveen, AZ  died Friday, September 12, 2014, in Phoenix Arizona.John is survived by his loving fiancé Trish Bednar,  his 4 children and their (spouses), John Jr. (Chris), Glenda(Chuck Brown), Charlotte (Terry Corbitt)  and C. Aaron (Jammie), 12  grandchildren,  5 great  grandchildren and siblings  Gertrude(Robert McDougall), Jody Pfeiff, and Louis Hoffman. He was preceded indeath byhis parents Stella and Louis Hoffman and 10 siblings.


John was born in Del Norte, Colorado but lived in Arizona most of his life. He served in the United States Air Force and early on earned his parachutist badge. Later he was recognized by the Air Force for making over 100 jumps. He was a talented mechanic and chose fire sprinkler fitting as a profession. He was successful in the fire protection industry, both in the field and in the office. John is known for being an extremely hard worker.  His passion was prospecting and running his business, Golden Sunset Mining and Milling.  He was an avid outdoorsman, loved the Arizona desert and enjoyed spending time there with his family and friends. He also had a love for animals, and his dogs were often seen next to him on hunting or prospecting trips.  John was also a very talented gardener and loved to share his harvest with others.  He will be sorely missed.


We will celebrate his life this Saturday, September 20,  5-7:30pm at 1526 E. Galveston Street in Gilbert AZ. Cards and condolences are being accepted at that address. The family would like to give a special ‘Thank you’ to the nurses and staff at  Banner Good Samaritan Hospital for the tender care that was given to him in the last weeks of his life.
