John Mitcham

John William Mitcham, 21, passed away on November 6, 2025, in Tomball, Texas. Born on July 22, 2004, in Shenandoah, Texas, John lived a life marked by deep faith, unwavering love for others, and a passion for service that touched countless lives.

A 2022 graduate of Magnolia High School, John went on to attend Blinn College and Grace School of Theology. His academic journey reflected his commitment to both intellectual and spiritual growth. From a young age, John was drawn to ministry and mentorship. As a pastor’s kid, he never knew a time when church wasn’t his second home. He embraced this identity wholeheartedly, serving others with humility and joy throughout his life.

John was a devoted member of Christ Church United Methodist for fifteen years and later served in multiple roles at Magnolia Bible Church—including internships and his first staff position as a pastor. He also worshiped at Real Life Ministries in Tomball. His faith was not just something he practiced; it was the foundation of who he was. Whether leading Bible studies or coaching football, John poured into others with wisdom beyond his years, always offering insight with a knowing smirk and signature sarcasm.

From the time he was ten years old, John expressed himself through writing—beginning with comic strips and eventually authoring a devotional book. He was a prolific writer who used his words to inspire and encourage. He loved reading and walking the trails near his apartment where he would reflect and pray. He also participated in benefit walks with his family, always eager to support causes close to his heart.

Football played a significant role in John's life. Though injuries prevented him from pursuing college football as he had hoped, he saw those setbacks as part of his testimony. He used those experiences to witness to others about God’s goodness during his time at Blinn College and beyond. His dedication to the sport transformed into a passion for coaching and mentoring—especially among his many football brothers.

John's warmth extended far beyond his immediate family. He is deeply loved by his mom, Amy Mitcham; dad, Chris Mitcham; sister, Becca Mitcham; grandfather, Randy Trevathan; aunt and uncle Jennifer and Chris Hinger; cousin Noah Hinger; aunt Kelly Marsh and her family; as well as many great uncles, aunts and extended family. He also shared profound bonds with chosen family like the Luchaks, Goldens, Tharps and McManners—relationships that enriched his life immeasurably.

He was preceded in death by his grandmothers Janice Trevathan and Faye Mitcham, grandfather James Mitcham and great uncle, Joe Dan Parker.

John had an extraordinary ability to connect with people from all walks of life. He looked past behavior to see the heart beneath—offering compassion without judgment. His laughter, dry wit, and ever-present sarcasm brought light into every room he entered. Whether embarking on mission trips or serving at Vacation Bible School, John was always ready for an adventure or new experience.

He loved deeply—his friends, football team, family—and most especially Jesus. His impact on those around him is immeasurable and enduring.

Though he left us far too soon, John's legacy of faith, love, mentorship, and joy will continue to inspire all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort and strength to those whose lives he so profoundly touched. A Celebration of Life will be held on November 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Christ Church Methodist at 6363 Research Forest Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77381.
