His keen intelligence, quick wit, sense of humor and many talents were always wrapped in humility, kindness and generosity.

Jon Kimball Wrasse was born in Whittier, CA, on August 17, 1959 to Shirley Ruth Jarrett and Carl William Wrasse. Jon grew up in Monrovia, CA with brothers Chris and Gary Wrasse.

Jon’s life was full of adventure from childhood and youth, exploring the hills in  greater Los Angeles, the many beautiful sites during family vacations, working in Alaska as a teen, and navigating the hostilities of working for the film industry. For many years Jon was an entrepreneur serving major studios and entertainment media in graphic design, film processing, feature writing and advertising. He also owned a recording studio and event venue in Los Angeles. As the lead guitarist in a popular Los Angeles band, he mingled with many celebrity musicians.

As a man of solid ethics and principles, Jon recognized that the fast-lane life of  the entertainment industry was not for him. He sold his business and left the stalled traffic behind to live in the beauty of nature in the Northwest. In retirement he scaled down his graphic design business, and found great fulfillment in counseling those struggling with addiction to alcohol. 

He met his wife, Catherine, in later life, and they lived happily ever after. She wrote this about the man she loved so deeply:

My best friend, partner and loving husband, Jon, left this life on Saturday evening, July 25, 2026. He had courageously and graciously endured a rare, very aggressive and extremely painful form of cancer, for sixteen months. His strong and solid character was nobly demonstrated in those last months, weeks and days.

Jon was a man of deep faith, giving him the strength to always maintain his optimistic and cheerful outlook toward the future regardless of hardship.

To know Jon was to love him. His keen intelligence, quick wit, sense of humor and many talents were always wrapped in humility, kindness and generosity. He never knew a stranger and had a sweetness of spirit that was like no other.

I am sure that on his way to heaven he stopped by the Rainbow Bridge to see his beloved pets that went before him. His pets that remain mourn him.

He was dearly beloved by his brothers, my daughters and grandsons, and friends. Jon was a very strong man with a tender touch. He was the best! My heart is broken. I will love my angel forever.

Jon is survived by his wife of 10 years, Catherine Owen Wrasse; his brothers Chris Wrasse of Altadena, CA and Gary Wrasse of Santa Fe NM (wife, Kim); niece, Christina Wrasse and her mother Tina Thornton; Catherine’s daughters, Alison Remington-Padilla (husband, Toby and his son Cameron) of Las Cruces NM, and Sharon Weinstein of New York City; grandsons Sebastian Padilla and Nathan Padilla of Las Cruces NM; and his many pets.
