Jose Alvarez

Jose Alvarez was born October 10, 1944 in San Gil, Santander Colombia. For those of you that knew him well he would tell you (often) San Gil is the birthplace of all technology and wisdom. Loving husband to Ofelia Alvarez, married on July 31,1972. Together for 48 years, he spent and devoted his life to Ofelia. Loving father to Jessica and Jennifer. Chepe loved to read and had a natural drive to learn and grow in life that he proudly passed along to his daughters. Grandfather to Natalie, Nick, Jackson and Joey. Nothing pleased Chepe more than playfully chasing his grandchildren around and showering them with love. He was their best teacher of life.

Chepe left Colombia in 1972 and came to the United States with little more than the clothes on his back. He worked hard and never gave up, through good times and bad, to provide a loving and stable home for his family. He believed anything was possible in life if you set your mind to it. He had impeccable work ethic and the grit to be bigger and better everyday of his life, and he accomplished it. He loved life! It made him happy to make others laugh. He was the life of the party; infectious and vivacious. He was an honorable and integral man. He truly epitomized the American dream. He will be missed but never forgotten.

Chepe is survived by his wife, daughters, grandchildren, sons in law, bothers and sisters, and many nieces and nephews.

Long live San Gil.

¡Viva San Gil!
