Jose Hugo Copa also known as JC was born in Salta Argentina on March 15th, 1934. He was one of eight children. He lived in many areas of Argentina where ever his father could find work. The family were members of the Plymouth Brethren Church begun by missionaries from England. He married Dorliza at age 22. Some years later in the province of Salta they began attending a church started by Conservative Baptists. He was in the first graduating class of their new seminary in SanPedro, Jujuy. They spent the rest of their married years located in Cerrillos, Salta in pastoral and other ministries. He supported his family as a plumber. After 53 years of marriage Dorliza died. Three years later he married Ruth Anne Nichols who had spent 19 years as a Conservative Baptist missionary in Salta. They lived in Salem, OR. He leaves behind his three sons, JoseLino, David, Hector, and their wives and five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren all in Texas. His son Timothy and daughter Ruth still live in Cerrillos, Salta. He will be greatly missed by them and his family at First Baptist in Salem, OR.
