Joseph Anthony Tahan

Joseph was born in Paterson, New Jersey on 5/29/30. He passed away peacefully on 10/31/18 at his home in San Pedro, California where he lived with his wife Shirley and his dog Sparky.

After his return from serving his country as a Marine, Joseph went to Beauty School to become a hair stylist. He owned and operated Joseph's House of Beauty in Clifton, New Jersey for 40 years. He raised his 3 children with his wife Shirley in Wayne, New Jersey until moving to the small seaside town of Sea Girt at the Jersey Shore in 1971. He loved spending time with his family and friends in his home and on his back deck. He was the master of the barbeque and enjoyed hosting many parties. In 1999, Joseph and Shirley moved to California to be closer to their two grandchildren.

Joseph will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years Shirley; children Denise (Gerry) and Jeffrey; grandchildren Gina and Daniel; brother George (Karen); numerous nieces and nephews; and many more family and friends. Joseph's parents Habib and Zekia, son Kenneth, brother Basil (Lillian), sister Alberta (Vincent and Edward), sister Mary, and nephew John have preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at St. John Fisher Church (5448 Crest Road, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275) on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at Palos Verdes Shores Clubhouse (2275 W. 25th Street, San Pedro, CA 90732). For our family and friends in New Jersey, a memorial mass will be held on the same day (11/16/18/11:00 a.m.EST) at St. Mark's Catholic Church (215 Crescent Pkwy, Sea Girt, NJ 08750).
