Josephine Doreen Burroughs

Josephine Doreen Burroughs was born July 16, 1931 to Homer and Winifred Golding in Pocatello, Idaho.  She was the youngest of three children, with Charles, her older brother, and Enid Whiting as her older sister.  She enjoyed her childhood on the family farm, surrounded by a loving family.   She attended a school of business to learn secretarial skills, in Spokane, Washington.  She was initiated in the International Honorary Business Sorority on March 6, 1950.  Mom met Donald Burroughs and they were married September 2, 1950.  The ceremony was held in her parents home in Rathdrum, Idaho.  They went on to Victoria,BC for their honeymoon. They were married and then divorced after 33 years of marriage.  They had three daughters, Christina Anne, Deborra Kaye, and Gloria Jean.  They were blessed with 5 grandchildren, Erica Judd, Ryan and Austin Padilla, and Lindsey and Kalin Hardecopf, and a great granddaugther, Lailah Padilla.  Having grandchildren was the light of her life.  She treasured the time she had with each and everyone.  This Christmas she was able to meet and hold her first great grandchild, 2 months old, Lailah Emery Padilla.

Throughout her life she made a true commitment to be involved in her children and grandchildren's lives. She was always there when she was needed, putting her family first, before her own needs.  Growing up our mother was involved in all the family activities, whether she wanted to or not, and that included trail riding on horseback, trapshooting, camping, skiing, and boating.  She also had a beautiful vegetable and rose garden.  What she really loved, besides her family, was her spiritual beliefs and her holistic views in caring for herself.  She shared this knowledge with her daughters and grandchildren.  She became a licensed massage therapist in the State of Idaho, certified in Reflexology and herbal remedies.  She discussed and studied the art of holistic healing with her sister, Enid Whiting.  They were very close and together they enjoyed helping others in need.  Her granddaughters, Lindsey and Kalin, want to share their blessing to their grandma: "To our angel here on earth and now from heaven above, we will remember you as a strong, caring person that has always been there for us.  The beliefs you instilled in us and the way you made made us feel will never be forgotten".  Mom look forward every spring to plan, purchase and start the new planting season for her flowers she loved so much.  Wherever she was at, there were flowers, herbs, and roses.

The last few years she spent hours on the patio watching her humming birds, and looking at the flowers throughout the yard and patio.  Also, She was an avid reader, and constant visitor at the library.  She completed crossword puzzles constantly, with more than one at a time in process.  Surviving are her daughters, Debbie (Jon) Hardecopf, Gloria (Gene) Padilla. Surviving grandchildren: Erica (Eric) Santillon, Ryan (TaiAnn) Padilla, Austin Padilla, Kalin and Lindsey Hardecopf, also her first great granddaughter Lailah E Padilla.

She was preceded in death by her parents Homer and Winnifred Golding.  Her oldest daughter, Christina Ann Judd, the father of her children, Donald K Burroughs, her  sister Enid Whiting, and brother Charles Golding.
