Josephine Smith

Josephine “Josie” C. (Ecker) Smith, 62, resident of Gold Canyon, Arizona, passed away, Friday, August 23, 2013 at her home.

She was born in Baltimore Maryland, November 18, 1950, the Daughter of late Charles and Eleanore Ecker. Josie received a nursing degree from Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio. Josie was re-married to Gary Smith on June 10, 2010.
She spent her working career as a registered nurse. She loved to travel and very much enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband Gary L. Smith; three children, Christine Stratton of Denver, NC, Amanda (Trey) Pape of Fountain Hills, AZ, and Mark (Melenie) Kunath of Phoenix, AZ; two step children, Michael Smith, Angie (Tom) Dwiggins; two brothers, Raymond (Kathy) Ecker of Elon, NC and Chuck Ecker of Quinwood, WV; eight grandchildren, Neal Jr., Molly, Phoebe, Eugene, Shalynne, Adam, Ashlynn and Aubrey; five step grandchildren, Brock, Ella, Ryan, Collin and Brayden.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the National Memorial Cemetery: 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024

The family will receive friends following the service on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 11:30 am at a place to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
