Joyce Ellen Lyle Haskitt

Joyce Ellen Lyle Haskitt passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 in Bellevue, WA at the age of 86 due to complications of dementia. She had been a memory resident for the past 2 and 1/2 years at Aegis Living Bellevue at Overlake.

Joyce’s greatest love was for her family. She married Richard R Haskitt in Burbank, CA in 1958. They had two sons. Richard Bruce, born in 1961, and his wife Cindy Schaefer were killed when their commercial floatplane crashed exactly 14 years before Joyce’s passing. This loss was the greatest tragedy of Joyce’s life. A second son, Robert Brent, was born in 1963. He lives in Washington with his wife Kimberley. Bobb and Kim have three grown children: Hayley; Griffin; and Gemma, all live in Washington.

Joyce, born in Ohio, moved to California with her parents as a young child. She graduated John Burroughs High School in Burbank, CA and Glendale Community College. During 65 years of marriage, Joyce and Richard have lived in southern California; California’s Bay Area; Tucson, AZ; and Redmond, WA.

Joyce was the best mother, wife, and friend anyone could imagine. Her most enjoyable and rewarding moments were those spent with her husband, their two sons, and great friends. She devoted most of her life to being a nurturing mother and household manager. After her sons reached college, she returned to the workforce as an administrator at a computer company. At Timex she was an executive secretary. Her final employment was with Revo Sunglasses, as warehouse manager and later, manger, consumer relations. She enjoyed entertaining, music, traveling, and exploring wines.
