Joyce Nadine Salt

Joyce Nadine Salt, 91, who rescued enough dogs and cats to fill an animal shelter, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022. Her spirit is carried on by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great grandchild, and an extended family of relations and friends. She was born October 3,1930 in Hillsboro, Oregon, to John Wesley Fleenor and Rosetta Madge Wells.

Growing up the youngest of seven during the Great Depression, it was important to Joyce that no one left her home hungry. She would not only feed her household of human inhabitants and pets, but also every stray animal that happened to be waiting outside her door, including crows, sea gulls, chipmunks, squirrels, raccoons, and the occasional bear. Yes, the Game Warden had a discussion with her about the bear feedings.

Joyce is reunited with her husband and favorite yard sale companion, Ronnie J. Salt, and she is preceded in death by her parents and her six siblings.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren: Shelley (children Renee, Brian, Kristina and Devin); Lynn (husband Cal, children Alexa and Calyn); and Mike (children Elisha and Jeff); and many great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, in-laws, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten.

During her later years, Joyce enjoyed watching her favorite TV programs with her companion, David Kuntz. Together they liked taking Sunday drives that sometimes led them to a coastal casino, were Joyce found herself an occasional winner.

Joyce was an avid reader, crossword fanatic, and a lover of all animals especially her horse Candy. She rescued and adopted many animals over the years and would love it if others did the same. in her memory please donate to the SafeHaven Humane Society in Tangent, Oregon or to any no-kill shelter of your choosing.

Joyce deeply loved her family and will be missed by all.
