In Loving Memory of Judith Ann (Rabdau) Chaney

April 8, 1941 – May 13, 2025

Judith “Judy” Ann Chaney passed away peacefully on May 13, 2025, at the age of 84, surrounded by love and memories of a life well lived.

Born in La Grande, Oregon, on April 8, 1941, to Joseph Augustus and Jean Elizabeth Rabdau, Judy brought warmth, compassion, and a spirited curiosity to all she did. She graduated from St Leo’s class of 1959 and Holy Names College in 1963 with a degree in Liberal Arts and went on to serve with the American National Red Cross, a time in her life she held especially dear. From 1963 to 1965, she supported U.S. service members while stationed in South Korea and Japan— experiences that enriched her worldview and deepened her commitment to helping others.

Judy married Barry Chaney, and together they had five children, instilling in them the same values of empathy, service, and strength that she embodied throughout her life. While raising her family, she also devoted herself to a career in social work, touching countless lives with her kindness and unwavering dedication.

She is survived by four of her children: Jennifer Foster (Allen), Jeff Chaney (Sun), Jessica Alberson (James), and Jacinda Chaney (Eric). She was a proud “Mema” to Emilee (Michael), Isaac (Ali), Hannah, Olivia, Sofia, Jacob, and Lucas, and a delighted great-grandmother to Abigail, Savannah, and Camille. Judy is also survived by her siblings Joel, Susie, Janet, and Julie.

She joins in eternal peace her beloved parents; siblings Johnny, Jerry, Joan, and Josephine; and her infant son, Jared.

Judy’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, May 24th, from 1–4 p.m. at Maplewood Golf Course, 4050 SE Maple Valley Rd, Renton, WA 98058. All who knew her are welcome to attend and share stories, memories, and love. She requested everyone wear red.

Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
