July 11, 1952 – July 3, 2025
Karen Kay Hursin, 72, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on July 3, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Karen was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Leslie and Catherine Adams on July 11, 1952. She attended Kimball High School in Royal Oak, Michigan. On September 4, 1976, she married the love of her life, Robert Hursin, in Royal Oak. Together, they built a life filled with love and joy, raising their son, Stuart Dennis Hursin, of Brownstown, Michigan.
Karen worked as a Billing Analyst for Henry Ford Health Systems for over 20 years. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and lived her faith through acts of kindness and generosity.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Catherine Adams, and her sister, Susan Danyluk.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Robert L. Hursin; her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Stuart and Wendy Hursin; her brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Debbie Adams; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
A private Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Good Shepherd Hospice—especially nurse Rachel Brown—Dr. Mulaparthi (Oncologist), dear neighbors Pat Doud and Pat Bissonnette, and lifelong friend Bill Henderson for their care, love, and support.
Karen was an avid reader, particularly of Amish fiction. She also had a passion for travel, with Bermuda being one of her favorite destinations. In recent years, she found joy and laughter with the "wacky" Women's Club. For over 20 years, she and her husband Robert brought smiles to children's faces as Santa and Mrs. Claus—roles they cherished deeply.
Karen never met a stranger. She touched countless lives with her warmth, humor, and compassion. She was dearly loved and will be profoundly missed.
