Karen Cecile Paulus, born on September 30, 1942, departed from this world on March 7, 2025 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, leaving behind a legacy woven with love, resilience, and boundless devotion to her family. Karen, the beloved matriarch, epitomized the warmth and strength of familial bonds, nurturing generations with her steadfast spirit and gentle heart. Karen joins her love Carl Paulus at the Caballero Rivero Dade North Cemetery Paulus private estate F BLOCK 3 LOT 336 SP4 located at 1301 Opa Locka Blvd Miami Fl 33167.
She is survived by her cherished family, including her son Timothy Sean Guidry and daughter-in-love Sharon Guidry as well as the former Pensacola beauty queens daughter Pamela Jeanne Guidry who no doubt inherited her beauty. Her maternal pride illuminated profoundly through her grandchildren: Sean Vincent Guidry, Brooke McArthur and her husband Justin, her prayer warrior Brittany McDonald and her husband Norman, Jessica Canter-Turkeitz and her husband Josh, and Teresa West. Her heart expanded even further with the blessings of great-grandchildren, Cason and Beau McArthur, Harper McDonald, Waylon McDonald, Bryson and Tyler Smith along with their father, Jared, and great-great-granddaughter Penelope Marie. These young souls carried her legacy forward, nurtured by the love she instilled in them through boundless prayers.
In addition, Karen's love extended deep into her roots, exhibited through her daughters, Mary Ellen Paulus and Elizabeth, and blossoming within her grandchildren, including Travis Guidry and Jared Poe, along with his wife Heather. Among her treasured great-grandsons are Joel, Michael, and Dylan, while the bond with her great-granddaughters Allyson Marie Hartley and Natalie Aliva-Christine Poe and her great-grandsons Jordan and Tanner Poe reflected her nurturing prayers in their lives.
Some friends become such a presence in our lives that they are embraced as extended family and Karen adored Rita and Irene to name just a couple. Dedicated to service to her Lord she will be forever remembered by many for her kindness, generosity and unselfish attention to the needs of those around her. From her fellowship at her church in Florida to her time at Journey Church and Lighthouse Fellowship in Texas her life was blessed by so many kind souls. Oh how she loved praise and worship and the undeniable presence of the Lord.
However, the span of her journey also bore the sorrow of loss. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Carl Paulus, who she cherished as the love of her life, and her firstborn son, Vincent Todd Guidry. The passing of her granddaughter, Danielle Canter-Smith, a beautiful soul, left an indelible mark upon her heart, embodying the depth of her love and the ache of her absence.
Karen’s life was a testament to the power of love, forgiveness and the importance of family, embodying resilience through every challenge. Always eager to share her secret to brightening every room, she witnessed to all who would listen, she never went anywhere without her entourage (her Father Son and Holy Spirit). She will forever be remembered as a guiding star, her spirit interwoven with that of her beloved family and all those she fellowshipped with. Her memory will shine brightly in the hearts of all who shared her journey, for in their laughter and their tears, her essence will endure.
