Katherine Denise Valerio 1950-2018

Beloved sister, mother and friend, Denise (Katherine Denise Valerio), passed away peacefully on March 25, 2018 surrounded by her family's love and comfort at her home, in Dublin, CA. Born to be loved and cherished by her father Tony (Anthony Valerio) and mother, Louise on December 28, 1950 in San Mateo; Denise and her brother Toby were raised in an idyllic family atmosphere with strong family values. She proudly participated in her family's contributions to the community, church and the entertainment industry. Her spirit remained constant throughout her life; this established the foundation of her values and strong work ethic that she instilled in everyone that she met. She always maintained a positive attitude, her trust in the Lord and sought to find the good in everything.

Denise attended Notre Dame High School in Belmont, graduating from Mills High School in 1969 and studied at College of San Mateo. Denise led a busy and active social life, enjoying music, parties and never missing a chance to help a dog. Beautiful, outgoing, always popular, she thrived in the community.

Denise met and married Stephen Boyer, moved to Dublin, CA. After she and Stephen separated, Denise focused on her career, working hard to facilitate raising and helping animals. During her 28year career, she held key positions at Longs Drug Stores. Known for her love of cosmetics and jewelry, She was often in the spotlight of training videos and merchandising. Through her work, Denise made many lasting friendships which she cherished throughout her life.

Denise believed dreams do come true; This was evident when she was reunited with her Daughter, Debbie Brackley in 2008 after a 40year separation. She cherished the time with her grandson, Jamen and welcomed her son-in- law Drew with unconditional love, admiration and strength.

Denise was very close to her brother Toby and spent time with him enjoying family connections, laughter, good food and music. She loved the tradition of their monthly weekends, annual trips to Russian River and traveling with friends; which continued until she became ill. She was a devoted sister, loyal friend and considered her love of the bible another one of her greatest accomplishment of her life.

After retirement, Denise focused on her daily scripture, friends and her beloved pets. She never missed her daily walks with the dog, Prince. She became a passionate advocate of animal rights and supported many charities. She cared deeply for every living thing. She cherished the moments with her family and friends; adored spending time with them and seeing them develop into the amazing people they have become. She was more proud of them then they will ever comprehend. She enjoyed dining out and shopping with friends and always had a good book to read. She saw every day as an opportunity to learn something new.

Denise is survived by her Daughter, Debbie Brackley (Drew) Grandson Jamen, her Brother Toby Valerio, Cousins Russ and Mary Kaye Young, Deb Dawson, Yvonne and Kathi Cetinich. The family would like to thank Hospice for their care and support.
