Kenneth Earl Beasom

December 27, 1939 — February 19, 2024

Forest Grove, Oregon

Kenneth Earl Beasom was born to Herman Edward Jr. Beasom and Grace Cora Klase on December 27th, 1939, in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Ken spent his early years in Altoona when trains were the king of travel. In rural Juniata County, living with his paternal grandparents Herman Edward Beasom II and Marguerite McArthur Beasom he fished from sunup to sundown as much as possible. Ken graduated from Greenwood HS.

After several people told Ken he should meet a lovely local girl, he ended up marrying that girl, Janet Kay Hutchison on August 9, 1968.  A few years later, Ken built a house for himself, his wife and daughter next to his recently widowed Aunt Orpha and his maternal grandmother.

Ken was a good student and joked that the only class he failed was carpentry. However, carpentry, specifically cabinetry, was his lifelong profession. He worked for Pannebaker Cabinet Company, and then Diamond Cabinets in Lancaster, PA. Ken was very involved in the church. He served many years as a deacon at the Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ church, he pastored the Blairs Mills church, and was a deacon at the Millersville BIC church.

Big game and ample fish, lured Ken and Janet to move to Oregon in 1991. Ken’s first job was at Pacific Crest Cabinetry, but he soon partnered with a good friend to start A to Z Cabinetry. Starting and running his own company for 20 years was the highlight of his career. He loved to brag about the terrific coffee his secretary, Janet made.

Ken served as a deacon at the Dilley Bible Church in Oregon. He and the late pastor of Dilley were frequent hunting and fishing companions. Ken took his grandchildren deep sea fishing, fishing on his boat at Hagg Lake and fishing at Horning’s Hideaway.

Ken and Janet were married 55 years and lived in their home in Forest Grove Oregon for 35 years until his wife, Janet passed away in late 2023 and his passing on February 19th, 2024.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents and brothers James, Edward, and Steve. He is survived by brother Rick Beasom of California, daughter Lisa Waiwaiole, six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A Beasom Remembrance for both Ken and Janet is planned for Saturday April 27th from 1- 3 pm at Hagg Lake, Sain Creek Pavilion.
