Ladd E Wood passed away on December 11, 2017. He was born on March 13, 1934 in Port Angeles, WA. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
Ladd spent the first years of his life in and around Poulsbo. He attended North Kitsap schools and attended Hill Naval Academy on Bainbridge Island. In 1951 he joined the navy. He served aboard the degaussing ship USS Ampere at Sasebo, Japan and aboard the fleet tug USS Mataco out of Pearl Harbor, on which he spent time in Alaska mapping out the depths of the Bering Sea. He left the navy in 1955 and continued working as an electrician for Puget Sound Power and Light Co.

They lived in California for a few years before coming back to Washington and settling in Bremerton and finally in Port Orchard. He worked for several newspapers and as a salesman before finding a job at the Bremerton Naval Shipyard as an electrician. He retired from the shipyard in 1993.
In his younger years, Ladd loved to go jeeping with his family. He also enjoyed working with his hands and built the log house in which he and Sharon lived in Port Orchard. He loved to read and watch westerns and sports.
Ladd is preceded in death by his wife, Sharon. He leaves behind three sons, Clay (Jennifer) of Lake Stevens, Byron (Stacy) Wood of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Tavv (Julie) Shaver of Lynden, 15 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
