Larry LaMonte Hawkins

Larry LaMonte Hawkins, 88, suddenly passed away on July 20, 2024, after having a massive stroke.  He was born on August 17, 1935, to Clyde and Bernice Hawkins of Ottumwa, Ia. He graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1954. Larry married Carolyn Woollums in August 1954. They had three children: Verdeda, Rodney and Yvette.  They lived in Lakewood, CO.  Later they divorced and Larry married Judith Dent.  Larry and Judy loved to travel; they visited all 50 states with their 5th wheel including a trip to Alaska in 2015.  They have also traveled abroad to Spain, Algeria, Mexico and the Caribbean.  Larry was an avid motorcyclist, loved ATV'ing and hanging out with a multitude of friends in which they had met on their travels.  Places they have lived include; Lakewood, Co, Mexico, Maui, Florida and their current location in Apache Junction, AZ.  Larry worked hard all his life, retired from Quest Mountain Bell in 1985.  Larry and Judy remodeled homes for others and built their current home together.  Larry is survived by his woife Judy of over 50+ years, daughters Verdeda (Jerry Peer), Yvette (Marty) Behrent, Cindy Dent, son Thomas (Naomi) Dent.  Preceded in death are their two sons, Rodney Hawkins and Timothy Dent.  They have nice grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice of the Valley Lund Home, 1982 E Woodside Ct., Gilbert, AZ 85297, hov.org.
