Larry Ray Hewitt was born on December 1st, 1949 in North Platte, Nebraska and moved to heaven on April 17th, 2026 while at home in San Antonio, Texas. In his lifetime he was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, an employee, a business owner and a friend. He worked as a truck driver, a crane operator and a heavy equipment operator. Although Larry had limited formal schooling, he was really good at figuring out how to make something work. His favorite tools were duct tape, bungee cords and rope and he had the self-taught skills of an engineer.
But Larry was more than all of these things. He was first and foremost a friend of Jesus and an evangelist at heart, not an evangelist who stood on a street corner or preached from a pulpit, but one who talked about Jesus over a cup of coffee.
He always had a smile for everyone and made it his mission in life to make everyone smile and laugh when they were around him, anytime and anywhere. If there were children, especially babies, he had to stop and play with them. He would do high fives with the kids and then pretend they had smacked him so hard, they hurt his hand. Then he would laugh about it and so would they.
Larry had a big heart and was a giver through and through. He always made it a point to try to lift everyone up that he came in contact with, giving them something positive, whether it was his infectious smile, his laugh or just a friendly word.
He loved worship music and couldn’t wait to meet his savior, Jesus Christ, face to face. He will be missed here on earth by his wife, Judy, his sons Troy and Larry, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his sisters, Kathryne and Verna, his extended family and his many friends. But now and forever he is having the time of his life running and leaping and praising God.
