Laura Lee Bailey, a cherished member of her family and community, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, in Forest Grove, Oregon. Born on August 10, 1937, in Twin Falls, Idaho, Laura's journey was marked by her dedication to family, work, and a variety of passions that enriched her life and the lives of those around her.

Laura’s career as a bookkeeper was a testament to her sharp mind and strong work ethic. She devoted many years to positions at a bank in Portland, Oregon, and several smaller local businesses. In her final years, she served as a bookkeeper at the Washington County Courthouse, where her commitment and professionalism earned her the respect of her colleagues and the community.

Her education began at Washington High School, from which she graduated in 1955. Laura then pursued her passion for numbers further by attending a trade school in Portland, earning her degree in bookkeeping. This foundation not only shaped her career but also laid the groundwork for her innovative spirit throughout her life.

Laura was a woman of many interests. She found joy in horseback riding, camping, fishing, and snow skiing, embracing the outdoors with an adventurous heart. Her green thumb cultivated a beautiful garden that became a sanctuary, and her love of knitting allowed her to create heartfelt gifts for her family and friends. A lifelong reader, she often found herself lost in the pages of her favorite novels, while regular outings to play bingo brought her closer to her friends in the community. Her fondness for animals revealed her gentle spirit and capacity for nurturing.

Laura is survived by her beloved son, Dean Coffey, and his wife, Sandy Coffey, of Clackamas, Oregon, who continue to cherish her memory deeply. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandson, John Coffey, of Clackamas, Oregon; her niece, Kelly Lester and Ron Sabin, of Cornelius; and her half-siblings Gary and Linda Johnson of Central Point, Oregon; Gayle Johnson of Jacksonville, Oregon; Darlene Kavanagh of San Miguel, Mexico; Diane and Chris Schuler of Redmond, Oregon; Geri Cullers of Portland, Oregon; and Nancy Cullers of Drumbo, Ontario, Canada. In addition to these loved ones, Laura was blessed with numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

She was predeceased by her father, John Thomas Johnson, and her mother, Eva May Rockwell, both of whom instilled in her the values of hard work and compassion that defined her life. She was also predeceased by her sister Connie Rae Lester and Richard both of Cherry Grove, Oregon and her Half brother Ralph Cullers of Hillsboro, Oregon.

As we remember Laura Lee Bailey, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and kindness. Her legacy will continue through her family and friends, who carry forward her spirit and cherished memories in everything they do. She will be profoundly missed but lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.

Laura was cremated and services will be private and held at a later date some time in the Fall.
