Lawrence Eugene Ezzell, age 79 of Tyler went to be with his Lord on Friday, March 6, 2020 as he slept at Christus Mother Francis Rehabilitation Hospital. Larry was born on November 7, 1940 in San Bernadino, CA to the late John Wesley Ezzell and Florence Hunsaker Ezzell. He was a member of Bethel Bible Church of Tyler for over 22 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Ezzell and his son-in-law Mike Hawk .
Larry is survived by his wife of 34 years Deborah Holt Ezzell of Tyler, TX, his son John Lawrence Ezzell and his wife Lori Ezzell of Fruit Heights, UT, his daughter Tracy Lynn Hawk of Temecula, CA, and Krystal Ann Chesney and her husband Steven Chesney of Gun Barrel City, TX, five grandchildren (Ashley, Kevin, Craig, Josh, and Brendan), and seven great-grandchildren.
He was raised in Downey, CA where he graduated High School in 1958, and then went on to Long Beach State University where he was a member of SAE and graduated with a business degree. He was always active in the community, an avid supporter of the local YMCA and the owner of Downey Ready Mix Concrete Company through 1983.
He moved from California to Texas with his wife Debbie in 1986 where he became involved with the Arlington Lions Club. He retired as an area manager for Ryder Truck Rentals in Longview in 1992, then began another career with Trinity Industries Concrete as an area manager, where he retired in 2005.
Larry celebrated 43 years of sobriety in AA in January of this year. His long time struggle with chronic pain and illness did not affect his ability to bless others with his infectious smile and personality. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A Memorial Service Celebration (Date To Be Announced at a Later Time) of his life will be held at Bethel Bible Church Downtown Campus located at 202 S Broadway Ave. Tyler, TX 75702 on the 3rd floor above The Foundry at 11:00am. Parking available across the street at the Fair Parking Structure.
