Lila Marie (Johnson) Palmer was born in Longview, Washington November 24, 1956, to the late George and Arlene (Mattson) Johnson. She passed away peacefully at home in Camas, Washington on the 8th Month on the 8th day of 2025 surrounded by loved ones.
Lila taught her family so much about strength and resilience and love. Unconditional love. She had love for everyone, and a heart of gold. She would help anyone even if she needed help herself and would give even if she didn’t have much herself. She would fill her home with family and friends if they needed a place to stay, it didn’t matter if she had space or not. She would go out of her way for all the children in her life. At Christmas she would shop and shop and never felt like she had enough to give everyone. She was loved by so many, just as she loved so many.
Lila loved the beach and camping. She very much looked forward to all the festivities at the beach, but her favorite was the annual Rod Run weekend in Ocean Park where she would spend quality time with family and friends. Family was very important to Lila. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren so very much. They were literally the loves of her life. She talked about them to anyone that would listen. She looked forward to their visits and if she knew they were coming, she would plan and prepare ahead for weeks. She gave the best hugs! She was known to so many as Nana and was the absolute description of what a Nana truly is.
She loved extended stays at her sister’s playing Yahtzee in the evenings and relaxing, they were known as “the Johnson girls.” They were inseparable their entire lives. She also enjoyed staying weekends with her daughter. They would go shopping, play Bingo, she loved to go to get her nails done at her granddaughter’s salon and she would sit at her favorite spot at the kitchen table and relax. She’d stay up late with her son and play Yahtzee when he would stay. Lila also loved taking the train to her other son and daughter-in-law’s where she would enjoy playing games, spending time with the dogs, enjoying the weather and visiting the casino.
She was devoted to her love Richard, whom she met in 2019. They did everything as a pair and enjoyed sharing their time together. They had a very strong bond.
Lila was greeted with loving arms into Heaven by her daughter Vanessa Ann, her parents, her husband Kenny Dean and other cherished family members.
Lila is survived by her fiancé Richard Lauer, her sister and very best friend Georgeana (James) Zollner, her children Stephanie Nichols, David (Devon) Nichols, Donny (Shahayla) Namock, all of her step-children and adopted children, her grandchildren Jordann (Justin) Lapham, Eithan Larsen, Alondra (Shaden) and Anthoni (Jennifer) Garcia, several step-grandchildren and adopted grandchildren, her great-grandchildren Bentley, Brinlynn,
Brooklynn Lapham and Oliver Jones as well as her stepbrothers, her in-laws, many cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, she even shared a birthday with her great-nephew Parker, which she was so proud to share.
Lila will be remembered as the caring, giving, loving person she was. She will be greatly missed by an abundance of people. May she rest in eternal peace.
Private family services may be held at a later date, the family asks that you hug each other tight, remember the good memories and spend a day at the beach!
