Linda Faye Johnson

Linda Faye (Nichols) Johnson was born on August 10, 1940, in Pensacola, Florida, to James Bernard Nichols and Ruby Janette Nichols. She survived by her sister, Christine Dee (Nichols) Bruley. From the very beginning, Linda carried a quiet strength and a deep kindness that would define her entire life. On January 5, 2026, she was called home, and the world feels less full without her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ron Johnson; her brothers, James Bernard Nichols and Greg Nichols; and her great grandson, Drake Montenegro.

Linda wore many titles in her life: daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, nurse’s aide, teacher, and musician. But above all else, she was a caregiver in every sense of the word. Whether through her work helping others heal, through teaching, or through the many years she devoted to raising her children, Linda gave of herself completely. She never measured her worth by recognition, but by love and she gave that freely.

Music was one of Linda’s great gifts. She was a talented violinist who played with both the Yakima Symphony and the Highline Symphony, and she even traveled to Sweden as part of a group to share her music. Watching Linda play, you could see how deeply she felt every note. Music wasn’t something she did; it was something she lived.

Linda also loved to travel. After retirement, she embraced RV life with joy and adventure. Those trips weren’t just vacations--they were memories.

Linda had a way of making you lose yourself in the moment. Whether you were deep in a caring conversation or laughing until your sides hurt, time seemed to slow down when you were with her. She was an incredible listener--the kind who made you feel seen, heard, and understood.

Linda leaves behind her beloved children: Cynthia Rhinevolt (Tom), Susan Monenegro, Jeffrey Johnson (Shannon), Steve Johnson (Lisha), and Michelle Adams (Larry). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Lauren, Emily, Christiana, Martha, Mistirose, Philip, Forrest, Naomi, Conner, Ella, Melanie, Ryan, and Rachel and a multitude of great-grandchildren whom she adored beyond measure. There are also countless others whose lives were touched by her love, her wisdom, and her gentle spirit.

Most importantly, Linda was a devout Christian who loved the Lord with everything she did. Her faith was not just something she spoke about; it was something she lived. She was an example to all of us of the peace that comes from the Father. In her presence, you could feel that peace--calm, steady, and reassuring.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8 (KJV)
