Linda Bernice West

Linda Bernice West, 78, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on July 5, 2026, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Linda was born to Peder and Eleanor (Tesley) Heimdal in Chicago on September 23, 1947. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert West, on July 2, 1966, and together they raised their family in Lombard, Illinois.

Linda lived a life defined by kindness, compassion, a wonderful sense of humor, and quiet strength. She had a warm heart, a gentle spirit, and an amazing ability to make everyone around her feel welcome and loved. Throughout her life she faced challenges with grace and courage, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. Above all else, Linda adored her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud Nana. Her family will always cherish the memories they shared with her.

Linda is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Robert West; her loving children, Dan (Jennifer) and Karen (David Howard); and her treasured grandson, Robert. She also leaves behind extended family members, dear friends, and many others whose lives were touched by her kindness and generosity.

Although our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in celebrating a life well lived and deeply loved. She lovingly referred to her family as "her Sunshine." In every way, she was ours.
