Lisa Stasiak, 51, of Mountain View, passed away from this life into eternal life on Friday, December 18, 2020 at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View.
Lisa was born at Providence Hospital in Oakland CA on February 19, 1969 to Thomas and Anita Stasiak. Lisa was among the 1 in 1,000 babies born with spina bifida. Lisa was a remarkably busy child who spent her summers camping, floating in her swimming pool and playing with her dog, Parker. Although her disability presented some challenges, she made the extra effort to be as self-sufficient as possible, which her family proudly supported. She attended Fox Elementary, Ralston Junior High and Mills High School, where she enjoyed pushing herself academically. Mills offered a special program for the orthopedically disabled where she excelled and felt at ease being with other disabled students she could connect with. After graduating, she continued her education at Canada Community College in Redwood City.
In her youth, Lisa enjoyed her family camping trips but her favorite week of the year was the one she spent away at summer camp. Summer camp consisted of canoeing, art and crafts, making new friends, and of course summer crushes. Every year she was nominated "The Most Huggable Camper" and she wore that title happily.
Throughout her life, Lisa had a passion for arts and crafts and she thoroughly enjoyed making beaded jewelry. She aspired to make a business out of it and would often give her latest creations to friends and family at each holiday gathering. She was able to find inspiration from her friends and family, especially her sister Julia. Lisa was known for a unique bead design that went on wine glasses which was a way to label whose wine glass was who's. Julia owns a wine store and was hopeful to one day sell her sisters beautiful creations. When Lisa was not spending her time with art and crafts you could expect to find her playing games. Her favorite games were word search puzzles and bingo! Lisa would wait with eager anticipation for the day every few months when her sister Kathy would take her out for a glam day. Lisa would get her hair cut and colored, and her nails painted. Lisa came to truly adore those days with Kathy.
In late November, the ICU doctor reported Lisa was extremely sick with Covid-19 pneumonia and was on the brink of respiratory failure. Lisa fought many battles throughout her life and unfortunately this time she did not prevail. She fought for her life for 25 long days and nights when God made the choice to bring her to heaven. Lisa was a fighter and would want all of us to remember her as a strong and loving friend that cherished her family.
Lisa is survived by her father Thomas, sister, Julia (Gary) Marcaletti, and Kathy (David) Halligan, nephew Matthew and niece Melanie.
Lisa is preceded in death by Anita, mother, grandparents, Catherine LaPlante, Leo and Wanda Stasiak.
