Louis Michael “Mike” Weatherford went to be with the Lord on the morning of September 14, 2026, surrounded by his family in a Bedford, Texas hospital. He was 83 years old.
Mike was born on January 20, 1943 in Waxahachie, Texas, to Jeff and Ivy Weatherford. He was a 1961 graduate of Waxahachie High School. He attended Arlington State College, now known as the University of Texas at Arlington, while applying his computer programming trade at LTV in Grand Prairie.
Mike was a lifelong Christian who worshiped both at College Street Church of Christ in Waxahachie, Texas and Turnpike/Crosspoint Church of Christ in Grand Prairie, Texas.
In 1965, Cindy saw Mike leading singing on a Wednesday night at her home church, Dalworth Church of Christ. He asked her out for a “coke” after church and they were together ever since.
The Army had other plans for Mike and his computer training in 1965. He was drafted and spent two years in the jungles of Viet Nam. After his return, he and Cindy married on October 27, 1967 at Dalworth Church of Christ, in Grand Prairie, Texas, where they had met.
Mike spent his career as a senior computer programmer/analyst, working on large projects for LTV, but his priority was always God and his family.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff and Ivy Weatherford, and several best friend cousins.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Cindy, as well as their children, Ann Marie Barker, Jeff Weatherford, Wendy Hernandez and husband Mondo, and daughters in love Shawna Hanks and Nicole
McCollum, his brother, Billy Weatherford and wife, Jeanice, along with several best friend cousins, grandchildren Blaine Barker and wife, Erika, Madilyn Hanks Hollen and husband, Joseph, Morgan Hanks, Ethan Hernandez, Hailey McCollum, Caitlin McCollum, and Caleb Hernandez, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life honoring Mike will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Crosspoint Church of Christ with family visitation at 10:00am and the service at 11:00am. Mike hated wearing ties so please dress casually to honor him.
