Lynn “Steve” Hult, 74, passed away on November 3, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Born in St. Joseph, Missouri, Steve attended Shawnee Mission West High School in Overland Park, Kansas, and later graduated from the University of Kansas. He served honorably in the United States Air Force Reserves, exemplifying the values of duty, integrity, and community that guided him throughout his life.
In his youth, Steve enjoyed astronomy, reading, writing, and chess. He was a dedicated student who consistently made the Honor Roll and embraced learning with enthusiasm. These early passions laid the foundation for a life marked by curiosity and a love of discovery.
Steve built a long career as a dispatcher with Charter Communications. Known for his quick thinking and calm demeanor, he earned the respect of colleagues through his professionalism and dedication. Outside of work, he found joy in sports and music. A devoted Kansas Jayhawks fan, Steve never missed a chance to cheer on his team. In high school, he sang in a local band—a fond memory he often revisited—and his musical tastes spanned jazz, rock ’n’ roll, the Grateful Dead, the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones.
One of Steve’s favorite quotes was from Bob Dylan’s grandmother: “Happiness isn't on the road to anything... happiness is the road.” He embodied this sentiment throughout his life.
Steve is survived by his life partner, Christal Rivera; his sister, Cindy Wood; his sons, Nathan Olson (Connie) and Timothy Olson (Ashley); and his grandchildren, Kaylen, Gavin, and Skylar. He is also survived by nephews Brandon Manbeck (Jenny) and Trent Manbeck (Amy), niece Trisha Roston, and grandnephews and grandnieces Wade, Jake, Olivia, Henry, and Beckett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Hult and Luan Helen (Schneider) Hult.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 11, 2025. Please contact the family for details.
