Margaret Ann (Howe) Bell was born in Los Angeles, California on December 31, 1923, and departed this life on January 24, 2012 at home in Palm Desert, California, after a long, brave battle against metastatic breast cancer. Margie was the youngest of three daughters of Frank G. and Mary Emma Howe. She was predeceased by her parents and her sisters Geraldine Barman and Mary Crouch. Margie was raised in Glendale, California, and graduated from Glendale High School in 1942. She is survived by Bill, her loving husband of 66 years; her daughters and sons-in-law: Kathy and Rich Lane of Surprise, AZ, Gloria and Sam Guye of Braselton, GA, Barbara and Greg Labadie of Kingwood, TX; and her grandchildren: Katie, Brian and Julie Lane, Scott, Bradley and Lindsey Guye, Bret and Kelly Labadie. The first time Margie walked past his drafting table at Lockheed in 1945, Bill was smitten. Since he had to sell his car to pay for his plane, he flew her to Palm Springs for their first date. To his surprise, despite it being her first time in the air, she asked him to do some loops and spins. Theirs truly was a "match made in Heaven." Bill predicted when he took her home that they would be married. It didn't take much convincing--they were soul mates, best friends and lovebirds until the end.Margie was the loving rock who supported her family with unconditional love and devotion. A child of the depression, she relished traveling the world with her family, and some of her happiest moments were remembering shared times and experiences. She took great joy in her daughters, her '''sons''? and grandchildren, and was always there for them, regardless of where they were or what they were doing. Her greatest pleasure was sharing every day with Bill, the love of her life. Bill took care of her at home until the end when he held her hand and kissed her after her last breath.Margie will be missed, but remembered, by everyone who knew and loved her. Her family knows she will continue to be the angel on their shoulders, watching over each of her loved ones as they pursue their dreams."Thank God for giving us someone so special that losing her can hurt this much''?In accordance with Margie's wishes, her family will have a private celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to Gentiva Hospice Foundation, 7801 Mesquite Bend Drive Suite 105, Irving, TX 75063 whose kind and caring support made her last days as comfortable as possible; to a Cancer Society of your choice; or to the American Foundation for the Blind.
