Margaret Mary Moore Blakely Holt, age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 12, 2019 in Phoenix, AZ. She was born January 16, 1935 in Chicago to John and Mary (Buzy) Moore. She was a 1953 graduate of South Broward High School in Hollywood, Florida and earned a scholarship to the University of Michigan where she completed a B.S.N. in Nursing. Margaret went on to earn an M.S. in Nursing and M.A. in Sociology at Case Western Reserve University where she achieved membership in Phi Delta Kappa and Sigma Theta Tau. As Professor at Lorain County Community College, she served as the Nursing Program Coordinator, Program Developer for Continuing Education for Health Occupations, and mentored many students in establishing successful nursing careers. She was recognized as a woman of distinction, served in state and national professional leadership positions, and achieved several professional honors and awards. Margaret was active in her church and on civic committees in North Olmsted and Elyria, Ohio, as well as Halifax, NC. Margaret loved gardening, home remodeling, knitting, and walking. She inspired many with her positive perspective on life, fearless independence, and can-do spirit. She is survived by her three children Robert (KyeangAe) Blakely, Sally (Jim) Fell, and Mary (Rob) Samuels; six grandchildren Denise Blakely, Joseph (Sheila) Fell, Alex Samuels, Sarah (Chris) Mallette, Diane Blakely, and James Fell; three great-grandchildren Cameron Mallette, Andrew Mallette, and Arthur Fell; two sisters Nancy Watton, Judi (Frank) Bondi; and two nieces Sherry (Steve) Sliga and Nancy Diamond. She is preceded in death by brother-in-law Ralph Watton. A private family memorial is planned.
