Margaret Catherine DeHaven

Peggy passed away after an extended illness on October 30, 2018, at age 85, in Olympia, WA. Peggy was born on June 5, 1933 in Salem, OR, and moved with her family to Tacoma, WA where she attended Visitation and graduated from St. Leo's. She then attended Business School, and then went to work as a civil servant for the Federal government. Her career spanned 39 years, taking her across the globe, from Washington to California, to the Far East to Europe, and many places in between; fulfilling her love of travel and adventure. When she was home in the Pacific Northwest, she loved to visit and relax at Hood Canal, the Mountain, Ocean Shores and Westport. She had a great love of reading, especially historical novels and Egyptian mysteries.

She remained very close with her two younger sisters and older brother throughout her life. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. After retiring from civil service, she was able to spend the majority of her time doting on her grandson Kevin.

She is survived by her daughter Mary Frances Sparks, (Lacey); son in law Dan Sparks, and grandson Kevin Sparks; sisters, Pat Mohler, (Tacoma); Mary Alice McCarthy, (Tacoma); sister in law Darlene Parsons, (Tacoma); and a multitude of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank Parsons, Margaret Ballantine, step father Bal Ballantine, brother Frank Parsons, and brother John Parsons.

In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to one of the listed charities.
