Maria Enid Texler-Hassin

Maria Enid Texler-Hassin from San Diego, California, passed away on February 6, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones. She was 83 years old.

Born October 22, 1941 in San Diego California, Enid was the eldest daughter to the late Emma Matteotti Leon and Manuel Rivero.  She is survived by her four daughters Monique Mills, Marian D’amico, Martie Renquest and Mica Emery, along with their spouses, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, her brother Joe and sisters Susan and Rosie, as well as a large loving and supportive family. Preceded in death by sisters Amanda and Judy.

Enid raised her four young daughters as a single mother. She embraced the difficulties of life and never shied away from tackling her fears. She taught her daughters to be self-reliant and that they could accomplish anything they set their minds to. As a grandmother she was always accessible and enjoyed sharing her knowledge and stories with her grandchildren. She loved to laugh and have a good time, creating memories together.

She was a woman who worked hard and always enjoyed her work. She found security and accomplishment in her 35 year career in the casino industry. She developed life long friendships with her work colleagues.

Enid was an artist her entire life and loved perfecting her craft. From watercolor to acrylic painting, sketching, designing mosaics and crocheting. She also became quite the baker which delighted her family. Her hands never ceased to make beautiful things.

She was a voracious reader and had a thirst for knowledge. At the age of 72, she took her GED test and received her diploma. She embraced technology, discovering another medium to learn and explore.

She was an active member of the Jewish community and dedicated much of her free time to the synagogues she was affiliated with, both in California and New Jersey. Her passion for Judaism was an outlet to express her love and commitment to God, family, and friends.

She will be remembered by all for how much she cherished and supported the people around her. She made a positive impact on others throughout her lifetime. She will be greatly missed by devoted family and friends.

Love you Mom ♥
