Mario O. Lopez, Sr. of Corpus Christi, TX passed away July 30, 2020. Born on August 30,1944 in Brooks County, TX to Juan Pedro Lopez and Maria del Refugio Hinojosa, he was the youngest of four children. Mario served as a captain in the US Army and then earned a Masters in Engineering from Texas A&I University. He was the Director of Engineering at the CC Army Depot for many years. Following retirement, Mario became more involved in the ministries at St. Pius X Catholic Church and was an integral part of the Building Committee and Men's Club. His passion for family history led to the role as President of the Spanish American Genealogical Society in 2017 before ceding the position to focus on his health. He loved golf, traveling, and the outdoors. He was especially fond of hunting and spending time with family and friends at his ranch. Always a loving and dedicated family man, Mario is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pearl S. Lopez, his children, Mario O. Lopez, Jr. of Detroit, MI, Michael Roland Lopez and his wife Stacie of San Antonio, his daughter, Christine Lopez Rosenast, her husband Patrik and their sons Nicolas and Lucas of Savannah, GA. He is also survived by his brother, Juan P. Lopez Jr. and his wife Diana of Falfurrias, his sister Alida Sirus of San Antonio, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends. His generous and kind spirit will be greatly missed.

Due to the COVID pandemic, services will be private. Memorial plans are pending.

In lieu of flowers, you may purchase a memorial mass for Mario at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Corpus Christi, or make a donation to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
